Content that has been contributed to public areas of Ancestry sites by users remains the property of the submitter or the original creator, and we are a licensed distributor of such content. Occasionally, a person may feel that content submitted by another user is covered by a copyright that they own or by a copyright of someone other than the submitter, and the content submitted infringes that copyright. Please remember that we are only the distributor of user-supplied content, and the submitter—not Ancestry—is the one who has violated copyright if such a violation has occurred. When submitting a notice, all of the following must be included:

• Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed, and the basis of the claim.
• Identification of the material which is claimed to have been infringing, including the URL of the Ancestry site where the material is located.
• A statement that the complaining party believes in good faith that the use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
• A statement that the information provided is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that the complaining party is the owner or is authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.
