The Canadian Expeditionary Force (CEF) was the field force created by Canada for service overseas in the First World War. The force was so respected and had such combat efficiency that the Germans nicknamed them Stormtroopers. The mostly volunteer force became so revered by the Allied commanders that the Canadians were ordered to spearhead the last campaigns of the War.
