Due Family History
Due Name Meaning
North German (Düe): from the ancient Germanic personal name Dudo which is of uncertain derivation. In some cases it is said to be a pet form of the compound name Liudolf (composed of Old Saxon liud ‘people tribe’ + wolf ‘wolf’); in other cases it may be a derivative of ancient Germanic theud ‘people race’. Danish: from due ‘pigeon dove’ applied as a metonymic occupational name for a dove keeper or as a nickname. French: variant of Duhe and in North America an altered form of this. Compare Duet English: variant of Dew .
