English: variant of Garson itself a variant of Garston . Simplified pronunciations of -rst- and -st- have turned Garston into Garson and Gaston and Gaston into Gasson. English (of Norman origin): occasionally perhaps from the Old French personal name Gason the oblique case form of Gace. These were dialect variants in Normandy of the Norman names Wace (see Wass ) and Wason . French: probably a variant of Garson ‘valet servant’.
