Linna Name Meaning

Finnish: habitational name from farms so named from linna ‘castle’. Established as a hereditary surname in southern and central Finland and Ostrobothnia since the 19th century. During the name-changing campaigns of the early 20th century the name was used by Finns to replace Swedish surnames containing borg ‘castle’ and lind ‘lime tree’.
