German: nickname for a hothead from Middle High German razzeln ‘to romp to rampage’ or a metonymic occupational name for a driver in a chase from the rattle (Rassel in German) used. Luxembourgish: possibly a derivative of Rasse from the ancient Germanic personal name Radizo (Rasso) derived from rad ‘counsel’. Alternatively perhaps a nickname from Old French rasel ‘measurement for grains and salt’.
