Rubano Family History

Rubano Name Meaning

Italian (Apulia and Campania): perhaps a habitational name from Rubano in Padova province although the present distribution of the name does not support this. Alternatively it may be from a nickname for someone with red hair or a rosy complexion from a compound of rub- (from Latin rubeum ‘red’) + the suffix -ano; or from an archaic term rubano denoting a water pilot; or possibly from the personal name Urbano with transposition of the first two letters.
