Elizsabeth Davis Stout, was born in Canandaigua, New York, August 5th, 1833; died in Goldendale, Wash., January 3d, 1909; Aged seventy five years, five months. In the same year of her birth she was brought by her parents to their new home in Michigan. Here she grew to womanhood and in June 1855 was married to Rev. D.B. Tracy a member of the Detroit Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church. Two children were born to them; a son who died in childhood and a daughter, Mrs. Mary Robinson, of Detroit. Mrs. Tracy has a brother, J.A. Stout, and a sister, Mrs. Merab Auderway, both of whom reside in Goldendale. Mrs. Tracy was converted in childhood and became a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. Intensely interested in all that pertained to her husband’s work as a minister, she taught in the Sunday School and led the women of the parish in all good work. A charter member of the Woman’s Home Missionary Society of Detroit Conference, she was for many years conference auditor of that society. After her husband’s retirement from the active ministry her interest in the work of the church in no wise abated, for eighteen years she superintended a suburban Sunday School six miles distant from their home in Detroit. Since June of 1906, Mrs. Tracy has resided in Goldendale except for a few months absence last summer when she visited her daughter. The return journey in November proved a severe tax on her very frail strength and though rallying from one serious attack she was again seized early last week and rapidly sank to the end of which came on Sunday evening about 5 o’clock. Funeral services were held on Tuesday Jan. 5th, at the Goldendale Methodist church. J.A. Stout departed with the body on Wednesday morning for Detroit, Michigan where it will be interred beside the body of her husband.
