I am looking for the land where my Carrigan ancestors lived in Coryell County. According to the book titled "Coryell County Families"......
"...Allen Carrigan and Obediance Carrigan traveled in a covered wagon from Maury County, Tennessee in 1850 (transcriber's note: the Carrigans did not come to Texas until between 1870 and 1880, according to census records) to the southwestern part of Coryell County, four miles southwest of Bee House. They pre-empted 160 acres of land. There they built a large log cabin near an ever-flowing spring located on a mountainside."
I found the following through the Texas General Land Office:
Abstract Number: 268
District/Class: Milam Preemption
File Number: 001434
Original Grantee: Cunningham, Doctor
Patentee: Carrigan, A
Patent Date: 02 Dec 1878
Patent No: 158
Patent Vol: 8
Any suggestions on where I can go to discover exactly where Allen's land was located, and who the current owner might be? Thanks for any help.
