The Klickitat County Agriculturist, Goldendale, WA., May 15, 1909, page 1
Bartholomew White, father of Mrs. Harry Wherland, of Goldendale, died here May 11, at the age of 97 years. The deceased was born at Limerick, Ireland, coming to this country when 24 years old. During the Indian troubles in the early 50s he was a contractor for the government, hauling supplies and provisions across the continent. For over 52 years Mr. White had been a member of the Masonic fraternity, being a charter member of the Neosho Lodge, of Leroy, Kansas. He married at Madeson, Indiana, in 1853, his wife dying in 1862. He never married again. He kept his little daughter, now Mrs. Harry Wherland, of Goldendale, as his constant companion on his many lonely trips across the plains; and has made his home with her for the past 24 years. The funeral services were held under the auspices of the Masonic lodge of Goldendale, a large attendance of his brethren being present.
