Daniel born 1762 is the first son of Robert Bain and Martha McDonald, that is correct. It is said that DANIEL lost his sanity after his father d and he (Daniel) remained in Cabarrus Co, North Carolina. I got this tidbit of info from Richard A. Bain who is a member here on Ancestry.com.
I am working on the parents of Robert Bain right now. I'm not sure yet. I will keep you posted as to what I find. Attached is the photo of the Rev. GW Bain's grave.
I have the following on the Rev. George Washington Bain and it is as follows: George Washington Baine was the first Baine resident on Sand Mountain, AL. He was reared by his aunt Nancy Thornhill from the age of 4 after the death of his father John Bain b.1812. He fought as a teenager in the Civil War as a member of the Home Guard. After the war he began to preach and pastored at Mt. Tabor and McCoy's Grove Churches near the Yucca area of Jackson Co.AL. He was the first to own land in what was to become downtown Pisgah from the Dover Mills area all the way past present day Pisgah High School. He was instrumental in starting a school in Pisgah at the present day grounds of Pisgah High School.
The 1880 Census shows the Rev. George W. Bain as being married. The link is as follows below, but I don't have the wife's name yet. http://search.ancestry.com/content/viewer.aspx?dbid=6742&...
More information to follow as I find it.
