I am looking for Gomez families in the Donaldson area in the late 19th century (now?)
I have at least one black Baptist Reverendin the 1890s to 1920s, Martin Gomez Jr., whose grandmother was from San Domingo. He had at least two brothers in abt 1900 who were butchers (Joseph & Adam) and his father was a contractors for ditches, levies and some sort of public works - all raised in Port Barrow. I have him ministering in Smoke Bend. I imagine there will be little on this family in any records beyond the census, but I wonder about places like Lumville (?) and Smoke Bend, if there are any regional local histories or something, and more about him?
