Am researching husband's family. Have been at a standstill for many years. So, am posting what I have again, in the hopes that someone may be related to this family. Jose de Jesus Silver Gomez, was born in 1907 in Tlalpan. He had 2 sisters:
Guillermina Gomez b. 1905, in possibly Tlalpan.
Ernestina Gomez b. 1910 in possibly Tlalpan.
Jose's father and mother were:
Jose Mariano Gomez b. abt. 1867 in Mexico City
Herlinda de Silver b. abt. 1879 in Nuestra Señora de la Paz, La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico
The parents of Jose Mariano Gomez were:
Finados Jose Mariano Gomez b. in Central America of possibly Spain
Tirsa Carmona (we know nothing of Tirsa's origins, etc.)
ALSO: Herlinda de Silver's parents were:
(We also know nothing more about them, nor their origins.)
It was told in the family, before Jose passed, that his family originally came from Spain. 15 years ago, it was said that there were still living cousins there. I saw their photographs.
In a letter, (not sure of the date), received from Chita Banos. At that time, the return address was stated as:
Campeche 35 2-4
She spoke of little Humberto. She mentioned the only sister left, Chopi, and that Chopi was selling off their land in Mexico (?). The letter also mentions that Chavo was working in Mexican Aviation and was perhaps going to be studying in the US.
Jose had a cousin that lived in Houston: Amado Gomez. I think he has passed, as that was back in the 1970's. His wife's name was Maryann or Marianne. They had a daughter. My husband does not remember her name.
Does anyone know of or about this Gomez Family? Is anyone here in the Gomez Community related to any of these people I listed? We would like to find Jose's ancestry and if possible, find out about the other people that his Aunt Chita had mentioned in that letter. As soon as I find them, will post photos of Jose's parents.
Hope to hear from someone about this.
Very Sincerely, Linda
