The first line is “Acute Influenza”. The bottom part reads “Had an old healed tuberculosis of(?) _____”. The last word might begin with a ‘b’, but I can’t come up with a word that makes sense.

The first word of the second line might be “Verruca” or “Nervosa”, but I don’t have a high confidence level on either one.

To me it looks like the second line begins "Nervous". Second word looks like "Tryfea" or "Tryfes" but can't find anything like it googling.

On second reading, I think the first part says “Acute Influenza of nervous tissue”. That would be consistent with it resulting in fatality.

You'll note that there is a numerical code by each of these conditions leading to death. Go to http://www.wolfbane.com/icd/index.html and find the International Classification of Diseases (ICD) revision that encompasses the time period of the death certificate. For instance, to choose the 1929 revision at random, 108 is the code for lobar pneumonia. (I do not know what the T after 108 stands for--perhaps another revision would tell more.) 11B is influenza without respiratory complications. 27 is tuberculosis of the other bones and joints. Again, perhaps a later revision would further break this down into 27B, as on the death certificate.

Now that you have deciphered the 2nd word, I can see that it must be "Tissue" but using the old "long s". The doctor must have been a very old fellow to still be using that version of script.
