Surnames: Spenceley Page

Trying to confirm that Mary Ann Spenceley, born @ 1794 in Yorkshire and daughter of William Spenceley and Elisabeth Easton, married Thomas Blumfield Page of Wymondham,Norfolk.

Thomas Blumfield Page and wife "Mary" had a son named George Spenceley Page, born 1822 in Middlesex, England. I am assuming that "Spenceley" was a family surname used here as his middle name.

Census records indicated that Mary was born in Aldborough, Yorkshire. I found a christening record for a "Mary Ann Spenceley." I am hoping this is the "Mary" in question.

Anybody out there have anything on this family?

The name Thomas Blumfield Page and Mary Spenceley is of interest to me.

The name Bloomfield enters as a given name in my Jobson branch as Thomas Bloomfield Jobson (born in Australia, moved to NZ). He was the son of Eliza Jane Page and Thomas Jobson, my gr-gr-grandparents.

I had worked back to Thomas Page and Mary Spenceley so was happy to see the Blumfield come up as the 2nd name of Thomas Page on your post. Where did this information come from?

It's always exciting to find another distant cousin!

Eliza Jane Page (born 3 Feb 1826 and baptized at Saint Pancras Old Church on 4 May 1826) was an older sister of my great-great grandmother, Emma Page.

Working along side another distant cousin of my Page clan who resides in England, I have been able to trace our Page line back to William Page, born abt 1680 in Norfolk, England.

If you would like to share information, please send me your email address and I will send you a family tree breakdown.

Hello John,

It is exciting! I had entered Thomas Page and his wife Mary and their family, including Emma, into my chronology as possibly being Eliza Jane Page's family until I saw you had Thomas' middle name Blumfield and now I am confident to claim them. With Eliza Jane Page's first son being named Thomas Bloomfield Jobson I guessed correctly that both of his grandfather's were named Thomas (you may know it was usual practice then to name the first son after his grandfathers with the paternal name coming first). I assumed incorrectly the surname Bloomfield would be Mary's maiden name. Eliza's sons had surnames as their middle names so I expect they will all surface eventually as Bloomfield/Blumfield did. Their names were Leonard Page Jobson, my gr-gr-grandfather, Edgar Swan Jobson and Walter William Jobson. You have found the Blumfield and the William, it seems. Well done! I look forward to seeing your work and will be happy to provide you with anything I may have of interest to you.

Your 4th cousin, Annette

Look forward to seeing what you have and wonder about your Emma's fate. I have a photo of Eliza Jane Page standing in front of her shop. My grandmother pointed the shop out to me when I was a girl and around the same time took me to the movies to see an English film which starred her cousin's daughter Jill Adams, a Jobson/Page descendant. I've been in touch with Jill Adams two daughters residing in Florida and England. I have been in just a few months but prior to that I had worked on my family history since childhood and a lot of notes I took when young helped enormously as did the old photos I swooped on.
