The outlaws "Ike" and "Port" Stockton were sons of Samuel Stockton who was born c.1814 in Tennessee. On 19 Aug 1843 Samuel Stockton married Jane Hickey in Itawamba County, Mississippi. In the 1850 census Samuel, Jane, and their family are shown living in Hopkins County, Texas.
Samuel Stockton (c.1814-c.1857) was the younger brother of William "Ole Ireland" Stockton who was born c.1813 in Tennessee. In about 1837 William Stockton married Merena O'Neal. In the 1850 census William, Merena, and their family are shown living in Tishomingo County, Mississippi.
Although William and Samuel's father has long been a mystery, there is now excellent evidence that their father was Samuel Stockton [Sr.] (c.1787-c.1849) of White County, Tennessee, and later Tishomingo County, Mississippi. In 1840 Samuel Stockton [Sr.] (c.1787-c.1849) is shown living in Tishomingo County, Mississippi, as is his son William "Ole Ireland" Stockton (c.1812-1875).
