I am from India originally. I took my DNA test on 23and me and was very accurate and even pointed to my state of origin-my ancestors moved to another state 2 centuries ago-so was surprised. Some surprises was about 10% was mixed between an ancestor from another state, a Siberian ancestor and some north Indian dna.
Now the shock was when I uploaded my DNA into GEDmatch and ran it through several calculators. Quite a few said I had Caucasian ancestry , middle eastern ancestry. My south India DNA was barely 50% and I had a lot of mixes in those calculators-with one saying I was 20% Caucasian-which was a shock.
Now I know my generations for at least 4 generations on either side and all are Indian-so not sure where this caucasian came from. The 23and me was pretty accurate per my own family hsitory , but the gEDmath calculators was shocking. Just wondering why it was so off.
And also is there another test that is more suited to asian indians?
