I sure hope after all of these years you will receive this message. Joe Macer of Pleasanton, CA was my step grandpa. My dad, Berle Seery, moved to Pleasanton sometime around 1936 when his mom, Edith, married Joe Macer. Monte was Joe's son and he and my dad, a number of years younger, were very close as they grew up, and we all spent many holidays together in our two growing families until Monte's sudden passing in the late 60ss, as I recall. Joe's previous wife, Monte's mom, was named Lucy, and in an odd happenstance, after divorce Lucy ended up wedding my dad's dad (Willis Seery)! I don't actually know how that happened. Anyway, I'm getting older now myself and was thinking about my (step) grandma Lucy, today, which led me to search for both she and Joe, and so on. Just reflecting a moment - my dad and Joe were very close. They spent lots of time together hunting, as Pleasanton was country, then, and many old families had hunting cabins in the surrounding mountains reached by Jeep and horseback.
In 1966 when Joe passed, I was just 11 years old.
It seems we share a grandfather. I have many a story to share.
