Someone told my (first generation in America) Norwegian father that he was a "black Norwegian," which my African-black friends thought was hilarious. Dad did have straight black hair and brown eyes and the epicanthine fold (as does one of my nephews) to his eyes. He was also rather hairless, even very little eyebrows (one of my five brothers couldn't even grow a "Ho Chi Minh" goatee, while the other four had full Paul Bunyan beards). What I find amusing is the concept of "races," as if we are mixing separate people, rather than that we all had the same ancestral parents with the DNA selection process, brown eyes, for example, being dominant, and blue eyes having lost the gene for brown. So, for better understanding, thinking in terms of one original family that dispersed when the original language at Babel was confounded into a multitude of languages, these indigenous peoples moved out across the globe. So we have families that are part of ethnic heritage groups that make up nations that fill the world...and often cross paths with our distant cousins. The concept of plural "races" is from discredited Darwinism. We are all part of the only "race," the human race, full of wonderful variety! Read more here:
