John William Richert, age 68, of The Villages, FL passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, July 3rd with family at his side.

He grew up in Aurora where his father was Pastor at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Mr. Richert attended Emmanuel Lutheran School, graduated from East Aurora High School in 1957 and went on to graduate from Valparaiso University with honors and also received his MBA from Indiana University.

He began his career at Barber Greene in Aurora, became CEO/CFO of Merchandise Mart Properties in Chicago in 1984, moved to New York City in 1993 to become General Manager of the D&D building on 3rd Avenue. While in New York, he was very active in St. Paul's Church near Columbus Circle, where he was CFO and mentored many current members of the church. He semi-retired in 2005 and moved to The Villages in Florida. He was enjoying retirement living; especially working on his golf game, spending time with his friends and neighbors and visits from his children and 5 grandchildren.

He is survived by four children, daughter, Katie (Jonathon) Davis of London, England; and grandchildren, William & Annabel Davis, John (Suzanne) Richert of Libertyville, IL; and granddaughter, Emma Richert, daughter, Julie (Gary) Dawson of Sewell, New Jersey; Dave (Laura) Richert of Aurora, IL; and granddaughters, Lauren & Mia Richert.

Special thanks to the Villages Hospice center for their amazing compassion and care.

We will miss our father greatly but are comforted to know that his faith was firmly in Jesus Christ and his future is secure. He left us with lasting memories and an incredible example of living and dying with honor and faith.

There will be a service Monday, July 9th at 1:30 p.m. at Glen Eden Lutheran Memorial Park in Livonia, Michigan.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network 2141 Rosecrans Ave, Suite 7000 El Segundo CA 90245.
