Frank Graszl, Sr., 92, of Mansfield, Ohio, died Sunday, January 4, 2009, at Winchester Terrace Nursing Home.
Born January 22, 1916, in St. Louis, Missouri, he was the son of Karl and Rosi Graszl.
He was a self-employed roofing contractor. Frank enjoyed working, traveling, gardening and playing the harmonica.
He was a veteran of U.S. Army serving during WWII.
He is survived by four children, Shirley Roberts, Frank Jr. Ruth Graszl, Richard Barbara Graszl and Thomas Marty Graszl, all of Mansfield, OHIO; twelve grandchildren, Cindy Harter of Bellville, Ohio, Thomas Chris Roberts of Raymond, OH, Jerry Brenda Roberts of Mansfield, Frank Cameron Graszl of Mansfield, Mike Tammy Graszl of Centerburg, Roger Graszl, Lori Allen, both of Mansfield, Kelly Johnson, Kimberly Terry Laubacher, all of Delaware, OH, John Lisa Graszl of Mansfield, Diane Brian Rice of Lucas and Jane Graszl of Mansfield; sixteen great-grandchildren; six great-great granddaughter; a brother, Wendel Graszl of Bellville; a sister, Rosi Palasky of Mansfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice E. “Peg” Graszl on November 17, 2003 whom he married in 1936 celebrating 67 years of marriage; parents; grandson, Jeff Graszl; and brothers, Steve and Charles Graszl.
Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2009, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the Apostolic Christian Church.
Burial will follow in Lantz Cemetery with military honors by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail.
