Captain J. S. Luker, the well-known steamboat captain, died yesterday at the home of his sister, Mrs. A.F. Darr, at West Newton, after an illness of several months of rheumatism. Captain Luker, at an early age, engaged in the steamboat business. He was captain of the finest steamer on the southern waters and was stationed at St. Louis for 17 years. Six years ago he returned to Pittsburg, where he has resided ever since. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. Besides his daughter, Mrs. Darr, he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. D. W. Luker and Miss A.E. Luker, of the North Side.
