How do I submit my sample?
When will I get my results?
You must activate your DNA kit to see your results. Your unique activation code is what we use to identify your DNA sample. For privacy and security, your DNA sample is only identifiable by the activation code, not your personal information.
Your unique activation code is located on the sample collection tube. The code is a combination of 15 numbers and letters. (You don't need to enter the hyphens). You can also find your activation code on the sample tube packaging, and in the instruction booklet for your kit. NOTE: If you ordered more than one test, please make sure you activate the code for your DNA sample.
Each person over the age of 18 must create their own account and activate their own kit. You can invite other Ancestry users to view and collaborate on your account from your "DNA Test Results" page.
Your results should be available 6-8 weeks after we receive your DNA sample. Occasionally, there is a delay due to high demand. You will get email notifications when your kit is activated and when your results are ready. Log in to your AncestryDNA homepage at any time to track our progress.
Instructions to activate your DNA kit can be found here.
You will receive an email notification once you have activated your DNA kit. After you get this confirmation message, you can check its status at any time by going to the DNA tab and selecting "Your DNA Results Summary."
The 15-character activation code can be found on the sample tube, the sample tube packaging, and in the instruction booklet for your kit.
If you made a mistake while activating your DNA kit, you can fix or update account details from the settings tab on your "DNA Results Summary" page.
You can only activate a DNA kit for a minor child if you are that person's parent or legal guardian. However, anyone over the age of 18 must create their own account and activate their own kit. You can invite other Ancestry users to view and collaborate on your account from your "DNA Test Results" page.
