Probably also an Americanized form of East German (Saxony Silesia Bohemia) Dürich a habitational name for someone from Thuringia (see Doering ) or of the Swiss German cognate Dürig (see Durig ). Irish: variant of Durack an Anglicized form of Gaelic Ó Dubhraic thought to be from Ó Dubhratha ‘descendant of Dubhratha’ a personal name meaning ‘black one of prosperity’. This surname is rare in Ireland and Britain. In some cases possibly also an Americanized form of Serbian and Croatian Đurić (see Djuric ) or Slovenian Durič or Bosniak Durić (see Duric ); see also 1 above.
