A Watson family household of at least 9 members residing in the district of Argenteuil was recorded in 1901. The head of household, James Watson, was born in Quebec in 1848. He identified his heritage as Scotch. By 1901, at the age of 53, he had an occupation that was recorded as "Carpenter". James's wife was Mary L Watson, who was 44 years old. Mary was born in Quebec in 1857. She also identified her heritage as Scotch. James and Mary had 7 children, 3 boys and 4 girls. In 1881 their eldest child, a girl named Elizebath, was born. Three years later, in 1884, when James was 36 years old and Mary was 27 years old their second daughter, who was named Ethel, was born. Then, in 1886, with their two older daughters ages 5 years and 2 years, their third child, Webster, was born. In 1901 another daughter, their fourth child and third girl, Mary, was born. With four other children in the household, their fifth child and second boy, Charles, was born in 1893. He was followed by 2 more children: their daughter Ella, born in 1894; and their son Murrey, born in 1896. Thus, at the time of the 1901 census, this Watson family household was filled with 7 children whose ages were 4, 6, 8, 12, 15, 17, and 20 years.
