Elizabeth was born in Nova Scotia in 1865. She identified her heritage as Scotch. Wellington and Elizabeth had 8 children, 4 boys and 4 girls. In 1884 their eldest child, a girl named Ivie, was born. One year later, in 1885, when Wellington was 22 years old and Elizabeth was 20 years old their second child, this time a son, who was named Ernest, was born. Then, in 1886, with their two children ages 2 years and 1 year, their third child, Maggie, was born. In 1901 another son, their fourth child and second boy, Albert, was born. With four other children in the household, their fifth child and third girl, Mabel, was born in 1890. She was followed by 3 more children: their daughter Viola, born in 1893; their son Frank, born in 1894; and their son James, born in 1896. Thus, at the time of the 1901 census, this Bartlett family household was filled with 8 children whose ages were 5, 7, 8, 11, 13, 14, 15, and 17 years.
