A Bartlett family household of at least 8 members residing in the district of Colchester was recorded in 1901. The head of household, David Bartlett, was born in Nova Scotia in 1850. Identifying his heritage as Irish, David immigrated to Canada 7 years prior in 1894 when he was 44 years old. By 1901, at the age of 50, he had an occupation that was recorded as "Mason". David's wife was Elizabeth Bartlett, who was 50 years old. Elizabeth was born in Nova Scotia in 1850. Also identifying her heritage as Irish, the same as her husband's, Elizabeth immigrated to Canada in 1894 when she was 44 years old. David and Elizabeth had 6 children, 3 boys and 3 girls. In 1879 their eldest child, a boy named Howard, was born. Two years later, in 1881, when David was 31 years old and Elizabeth was 31 years old their second child, this time a daughter, who was named Annie, was born. Then, in 1885, with their two children ages 6 years and 4 years, their third child, Ethel, was born. In 1901 another daughter, their fourth child and third girl, Millie, was born. With four other children in the household, their fifth child and second boy, David, was born in 1888. He was followed by 1 more child: their son Adelbert, born in 1893. Thus, at the time of the 1901 census, this Bartlett family household was filled with 6 children whose ages were 8, 12, 13, 15, 20, and 21 years.
