Sample 1901 Colchester census records about the Byers family available from Ancestry.ca:
A Byers family household of at least 6 members residing in the district of Colchester was recorded in 1901. The head of household, Edward I Byers, was born in Nova Scotia in 1862. He identified his heritage as Scotch. By 1901, at the age of 38, he had an occupation that was recorded as "Farmer". Edward's wife was Agness I Byers, who was 30 years old. Agness was born in Nova Scotia in 1870. She also identified her heritage as Scotch. Edward and Agness had 4 children, all boys. In 1893 the eldest boy, John, was born. Two years later, in 1895, when Edward was 33 years old and Agness was 25 years old their second son, who was named Albert, was born. Then, in 1897, with their two older sons ages 4 years and 2 years, their third son, Dan, was born. In 1901 another son, their fourth child, Charles, was born. Thus, at the time of the 1901 census, this Byers family household was filled with 4 sons whose ages were 1, 3, 5, and 7 years.
