He identified his heritage as Scotch. By 1901, at the age of 53, he had an occupation that was recorded as "Restaurant Keeper". William's wife was Catherine A McKim, who was 47 years old. Catherine was born in Nova Scotia in 1853. She also identified her heritage as Scotch. William and Catherine had 4 children, all boys. In 1883 the eldest boy, Fredrick, was born. Four years later, in 1887, when William was 39 years old and Catherine was 34 years old their second son, who was named Charles, was born. Then, in 1888, with their two older sons ages 5 years and 1 year, their third son, William, was born. In 1901 another son, their fourth child, Ernest, was born.
