A McGinnis family household of at least 10 members residing in the district of Hants was recorded in 1901. The head of household, Francis McGinnis, was born in Nova Scotia in 1850. He identified his heritage as Irish. By 1901, at the age of 50, he had an occupation that was recorded as "Wheelwright". Francis's wife was Matilda McGinnis, who was 42 years old. Matilda was born in Nova Scotia in 1858. She identified her heritage as English. Francis and Matilda had 8 children, 3 boys and 5 girls. In 1880 their eldest child, a boy named Fredrick, was born. One year later, in 1881, when Francis was 31 years old and Matilda was 23 years old their second child, this time a daughter, who was named Camilla, was born. Then, in 1885, with their two children ages 5 years and 4 years, their third child, Leo, was born. In 1901 another daughter, their fourth child and second girl, Margaret, was born. With four other children in the household, their fifth child and third girl, Ellen, was born in 1889.
