He identified his heritage as Scotch. By 1901, at the age of 34, he had an occupation that was recorded as "Laborer". Robert's wife was Elizabeth McLellan, who was 34 years old. Elizabeth was born in Nova Scotia in 1867. She identified her heritage as Irish. Robert and Elizabeth had 7 children, 3 boys and 4 girls. In 1890 their eldest child, a girl named Martha, was born. One year later, in 1891, when Robert was 24 years old and Elizabeth was 24 years old their second child, this time a son, who was named Robie, was born.
