A Thomas family household of at least 9 members residing in the district of Labelle was recorded in 1901. The head of household, J B'te Proulx, was born in Quebec in 1860. He identified his heritage as French. By 1901, at the age of 40, he had an occupation that was recorded as "Farmer". J B'te's wife was Aurelie Proulx, who was 34 years old. Aurelie was born in Quebec in 1867. She also identified her heritage as French. J B'te and Aurelie had 7 children, 3 boys and 4 girls. In 1885 their eldest child, a girl named Alphonsine, was born. Two years later, in 1887, when J B'te was 27 years old and Aurelie was 20 years old their second daughter, who was named Emma, was born. Then, in 1889, with their two older daughters ages 4 years and 2 years, their third daughter, Marguerite, was born. In 1901 another daughter, their fourth child, Elizabeth, was born. J B'te and Aurelie's first son was born in 1894 and was named Ludger. . He was followed by 2 more children: their son Adolphe, born in 1896; and their son J Bte, born in 1899. Thus, at the time of the 1901 census, this Thomas family household was filled with 7 children whose ages were 2, 4, 6, 8, 12, 14, and 15 years.
