A Belanger family household of at least 10 members residing in the district of Maisonneuve was recorded in 1901. The head of household, Lucien Belanger, was born in Quebec in 1859. He identified his heritage as French. By 1901, at the age of 41, he had an occupation that was recorded as "Blacksmith". Lucien's wife was Eliza Belanger, who was 36 years old. Eliza was born in Quebec in 1864. She also identified her heritage as French. Lucien and Eliza had 8 children, 3 boys and 5 girls. In 1884 their eldest child, a girl named Eliza, was born. Two years later, in 1886, when Lucien was 27 years old and Eliza was 22 years old their second child, this time a son, who was named Lucien, was born. Then, in 1888, with their two children ages 4 years and 2 years, their third child, Laura, was born. In 1901 another son, their fourth child and second boy, Romuald, was born. With four other children in the household, their fifth child and third boy, Jonelle, was born in 1891. He was followed by 3 more children: their daughter Lumina, born in 1895; their daughter Diana, born in 1897; and their daughter Eva, born in 1901. Thus, at the time of the 1901 census, this Belanger family household was filled with 8 children whose ages were (infant), 4, 5, 9, 11, 13, 14, and 16 years.
