He identified his heritage as French. By 1901, at the age of 41, he had an occupation that was recorded as "Butcher". André's wife was Clara Forest, who was 36 years old. Clara was born in Quebec in 1865. She also identified her heritage as French. André and Clara had 7 children, 3 boys and 4 girls. In 1886 their eldest child, a boy named André, was born. Two years later, in 1888, when André was 28 years old and Clara was 23 years old their second child, this time a daughter, who was named Edmié, was born. Then, in 1889, with their two children ages 3 years and 1 year, their third child, Léonie, was born. In 1901 another daughter, their fourth child and third girl, Ida, was born. With four other children in the household, their fifth child and fourth girl, Paula, was born in 1893. She was followed by 2 more children: their son Zénon, born in 1896; and their son Sylvia, born in 1898. Thus, at the time of the 1901 census, this Forest family household was filled with 7 children whose ages were 3, 5, 8, 10, 12, 13, and 15 years.
