A McQuaid family household of at least 7 members residing in the district of Maisonneuve was recorded in 1901. The head of household, John R McQuaid, was born in Quebec in 1863. He identified his heritage as Irish. By 1901, at the age of 37, he had an occupation that was recorded as "Foreman". John's wife was Sarah McQuaid, who was 40 years old. Sarah was born in "Què" in 1860. She identified her heritage as English. John and Sarah had 5 children, 3 boys and 2 girls. In 1885 their eldest child, a boy named David, was born. Six years later, in 1891, when John was 28 years old and Sarah was 31 years old their second child, this time a daughter, who was named Emma, was born. Then, in 1893, with their two children ages 8 years and 2 years, their third child, Sarah, was born. In 1901 another son, their fourth child and second boy, Robert, was born. With four other children in the household, their fifth child and third boy, Albert Ed, was born in 1896. Thus, at the time of the 1901 census, this McQuaid family household was filled with 5 children whose ages were 4, 7, 7, 9, and 15 years.
