A Forest family household of at least 13 members residing in the district of Nipissing was recorded in 1901. The head of household, James H Forest, was born in Ontario in 1853. He identified his heritage as Scotch. By 1901, at the age of 47, he had an occupation that was recorded as "Farmer". James's wife was Margaret Forest, who was 45 years old. Margaret was born in Ontario in 1855. She also identified her heritage as Scotch. James and Margaret had 11 children, 8 boys and 3 girls. In 1874 their eldest child, a boy named Andrew, was born. Two years later, in 1876, when James was 23 years old and Margaret was 21 years old their second child, this time a daughter, who was named Bella, was born. Then, in 1878, with their two children ages 4 years and 2 years, their third child, Duncan, was born. In 1901 another son, their fourth child and third boy, Donald, was born. With four other children in the household, their fifth child and fourth boy, John, was born in 1882. He was followed by 6 more children: their son Samuel, born in 1884; their son Edward, born in 1886; their daughter Marion, born in 1888; their son Peter, born in 1890; their son Robert, born in 1892; and their daughter Anna, born in 1894. Thus, at the time of the 1901 census, this Forest family household was filled with 11 children whose ages were 7, 9, 11, 12, 15, 17, 18, 20, 23, 25, and 27 years.
