A McLellan family household of at least 10 members residing in the district of Restigouche was recorded in 1901. The head of household, Angus McLellan, was born in Nova Scotia in 1840. He identified his heritage as Scotch. By 1901, at the age of 60, he had an occupation that was recorded as "Conductor". Angus's wife was Sarah McLellan, who was 50 years old. Sarah was born in Nova Scotia in 1851. She also identified her heritage as Scotch. Angus and Sarah had 8 children, 4 boys and 4 girls. In 1875 their eldest child, a boy named John, was born. Two years later, in 1877, when Angus was 37 years old and Sarah was 26 years old their second child, this time a daughter, who was named Nellie, was born. Then, in 1879, with their two children ages 4 years and 2 years, their third child, Waren, was born. In 1901 another son, their fourth child and third boy, Arthur, was born. With four other children in the household, their fifth child and second girl, Ammelia, was born in 1886. She was followed by 3 more children: their daughter Ora, born in 1887; their daughter Ida, born in 1891; and their son Gerrald, born in 1893. Thus, at the time of the 1901 census, this McLellan family household was filled with 8 children whose ages were 7, 9, 13, 14, 19, 21, 23, and 25 years.
