A Cournoyer family household of at least 12 members residing in the district of Richelieu was recorded in 1901. The head of household, Pierre Cournoyer, was born in Quebec in 1853. He identified his heritage as French. By 1901, at the age of 48, he had an occupation that was recorded as "Farmer". Pierre's wife was Henriette Cournoyer, who was 46 years old. Henriette was born in Quebec in 1854. She also identified her heritage as French. Pierre and Henriette had 10 children, 8 boys and 2 girls. In 1876 their eldest child, a girl named Adélina, was born. Two years later, in 1878, when Pierre was 25 years old and Henriette was 24 years old their second child, this time a son, who was named Pierre, was born. Then, in 1881, with their two children ages 5 years and 3 years, their third child, Adélard, was born. In 1901 another son, their fourth child and third boy, Jean Bte, was born. With four other children in the household, their fifth child and fourth boy, Donat, was born in 1885. He was followed by 5 more children: their son Emil, born in 1888; their daughter Louise, born in 1890; their son Josephat, born in 1891; their son Euchariste, born in 1894; and their son Narcisse, born in 1898. Thus, at the time of the 1901 census, this Cournoyer family household was filled with 10 children whose ages were 2, 7, 9, 10, 13, 15, 17, 19, 22, and 24 years.
