A Neff family household of at least 9 members residing in the district of Welland was recorded in 1901. The head of household, Reuben Neff, was born in Ontario in 1847. He identified his heritage as German. By 1901, at the age of 53, he had an occupation that was recorded as "Carpenter". Reuben's wife was Annetta M Neff, who was 43 years old. Annetta was born in Ontario in 1857. She also identified her heritage as German. Reuben and Annetta had 7 children, 5 boys and 2 girls. In 1877 their eldest child, a boy named Earl, was born. Four years later, in 1881, when Reuben was 34 years old and Annetta was 24 years old their second son, who was named Lome, was born. Then, in 1882, with their two older sons ages 5 years and 1 year, their third son, Garnest, was born. Reuben and Annetta's first daughter was born in 1884 and was named Pearl C E. With four other children in the household, their fifth child and fourth boy, Llord, was born in 1887.
