A McLellan family household of at least 9 members residing in the district of Westmorland was recorded in 1901. The head of household, Alexander McLellan, was born in New Brunswick in 1844. He identified his heritage as Scotch. By 1901, at the age of 56, he had an occupation that was recorded as "Laborer". Alexander's wife was Marie McLellan, who was 46 years old. Marie was born in New Brunswick in 1854. She identified her heritage as French. Alexander and Marie had 7 children, 4 boys and 3 girls. In 1880 their eldest child, a boy named James, was born. Two years later, in 1882, when Alexander was 38 years old and Marie was 28 years old their second child, this time a daughter, who was named Florence, was born. Then, in 1886, with their two children ages 6 years and 4 years, their third child, Annie, was born. In 1901 another son, their fourth child and second boy, Joseph, was born. With four other children in the household, their fifth child and third girl, Gertie, was born in 1890. She was followed by 2 more children: their son Alexander, born in 1892; and their son George, born in 1894. Thus, at the time of the 1901 census, this McLellan family household was filled with 7 children whose ages were 6, 8, 11, 13, 15, 18, and 20 years.
