Deverell Name Meaning

English: habitational name from any of a group of places in Wiltshire which take their affixes from the River Deverill (Brixton Deverill Hill Deverill Kingston Deverill Longbridge Deverill and Monkton Deverill). These all originated as names for different parts of a single estate appearing simply as Devrel in the Domesday Book. The river is thought to be named from Welsh dwfr ‘river’ + iâl ‘fertile uplands’.
