Spanish and Catalan: Castilianized form (Mirón) of Catalan Miró (see Miro ). Romanian: from the personal name Miron Greek Myrōn (from myron ‘myrrh’). French Canadian: shortened form of French Migneron itself derived from Mignier an occupational name from minier ‘miner’. Compare Mero 5 and Merrow French: from a diminutive of Mire 2 ‘physician’. In some cases possibly also an American shortened form of Greek patronymics from the personal name Miron Myrōn (see 3 above and Myron ).
