Niblock Family History

Niblock Name Meaning

Scottish and northern Irish: unexplained. The surname has been established in County Antrim since the 17th century believed to be of British origin. It may contain the Scottish Gaelic suffix -ach which is often Anglicized to -o but the word stem is obscure. Its similarity of appearance to the modern Scots word niblick niblock (a golf-club with a small round heavy head) is fortuitous.
