Rockett Name Meaning

English and Irish: of Norman origin from a diminutive of Old French roche rocque ‘rock’ a topographic name denoting someone who lived by or near a small rock or a habitational name from a place called with this word such as La Roquette in Eure. In Ireland Rockett was apparently substituted for Rockell which carries the same original sense ‘little rock’ (see Rochelle ). English: perhaps a nickname from Middle English rocket ‘overgarment coat’ used for someone who made or sold such vestments.
