English: variant of Sturton a habitational name from Sturton le Steeple (Nottinghamshire) Great Sturton (Lincolnshire) Sturton by Stow (Lincolnshire) or possibly Sturton (Northumberland) all of which share the same etymology and early spellings as Stratton .
