Compare Bruckman. Altered spelling of German Brückmann ‘bridge keeper’ (see Bruckman). Altered spelling of Slovenian Bricman, derived from an old personal name Bric (Latin Bricius or Brictius; see Brice) + the suffix -man, German -mann.
