Altered form of English Deborde a surname of French origin. French: habitational name with the preposition de ‘from’ for someone from a place called Bord in Creuse or perhaps from either of two places called Bort in Puy-de-Dôme and Corrèze. Alternatively a topographic name for someone who lived at the side of a road river or similar from bord ‘border edge’.
