Probably an altered form of German Draffehn an ethnic name for a Slavic speaker from Lüneburg Heath from Polabic (a West Slavic language) Dråwën. This was the westernmost region where a Slavic language was spoken. In some cases the name was habitational from a place called Drawehn near Köslin in Pomerania.
