Feng Name Meaning

Chinese : from the name of the city of Feng in the state of Wei during the Zhou dynasty (1122–221 bc). The fifteenth son of the virtuous duke Wen Wang, Bi Gonggao, was granted the state of Wei soon after the founding of the Zhou dynasty in 1122 bc. A descendant of Bi Gonggao, Bi Wan, was granted Feng city, and his descendants took the city name as their surname. Chinese : from the name of a territory in what is now Henan province. A descendant of the second legendary emperor, Shen Nong (2734–2697 bc), was a tutor of the third legendary emperor, Huang Di (2697–2595 bc). In honor of this service he was granted an area called Feng, and his descendants adopted the place name as their surname. Chinese : from the name of a personage who lived during the Spring and Autumn period (722–481 bc). At this time, Duke Mu of the state of Zheng had a son whose name contained this character for Feng, and his descendants adopted it as their surname. Chinese : from the name of an area called Feng (location unknown). The seventeenth son of the virtuous duke Wen Wang, who lived in the twelfth century bc, was granted an area called Feng, along with the title Marquis of Feng. His descendants adopted the name of the place as their surname.
