Dutch and German: from the ancient Germanic personal name Huno (from hūn ‘bear cub’). German: variant of Höhn (see Hoehn ). Norwegian: habitational name from either of two farmsteads named Hon from Old Norse hundr ‘dog’ or from Hóvin a compound of hór ‘high’ + vin ‘meadow’.
